Volunteer Abroad in Argentina. Volunteers at the centers for at-risk and homeless children will provide childcare, meals, educational activities, and a safe haven for children who would otherwise be on the streets begging, selling goods or getting into trouble.
The centers have a wide variety of ongoing projects for children aged 2 through 18 including pre-school programs, after school tutoring, field trips, social programs, and English classes.
Our Argentina programs are based in Buenos Aires, the elegant and energy filled capital. Buenos Aires shares many of the problems other Latin American capitals are experiencing: poverty, pollution, lack of infrastructure, and unemployment. Volunteers work with local organizations devoted to fighting poverty. Volunteers can work with at-risk children, in soup kitchens, or health education campaigns.
Spanish Classes
Spanish classes are at the Universidad de Buenos Aires and begin on the first Monday of each month.
First Month: USD 550
Additional Months: USD 500
* Start Dates
The start dates for the Argentina programs are completely flexible. We ask that participants book flights arriving during the day between 5:00 AM and 11:00 PM. Please do not arrive between December 18 and January 3 in order to allow our coordinator and staff to spend the Christmas and New Years Holidays with their families.
* Travel Insurance
Travel insurance is not included in the program fee. We prefer to let participants decide what kind of coverage they need.
Argentina is one of the most captivating countries in South America. The country stretches from the Tropic of Capricorn in the North to the icy waters of Cape Horn. Between these extremes, the Andes tower above the Gran Chaco and the Pampas, home of the gaucho, before giving way to rugged Patagonia in the south. The incredible natural beauty lures hikers, skiers, mountain climbers, and other adventures from all over the world while cosmopolitan Buenos Aires, one of the world's great capitals, attracts people looking for a 24 hour metropolis. Buenos Aires is often called the Paris of South America because of the European style architecture, cafes, boulevards, cultural venues, fine restaurants, and clubs. The people of Buenos Aires, called porteƱos, are known for their style and flair. They are as proud and as passionate as the tango, the dance they invented and continue to refine today.
100 years ago Argentina was one of the wealthiest countries in the world. During the 20th century, a series of economic and political crises culminated in full blown depression during 2001 and 2002. During the depression, many middle class families fell into poverty. We partner with organizations in Buenos Aires devoted to assisting homeless and impoverished families by giving them the tools they need to escape poverty.

International Volunteers is the volunteer branch of ELI Abroad, a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization, founded in 2001, that partners with organizations from around the world making a difference in their communities. We work closely with these groups to ensure that our volunteers get meaningful experiences at reasonable prices. We have something for everyone: whether you want to teach in Ghana, work in an orphanage in Nepal, animal rescue in the rainforest of Ecuador, medical clinic in South India, or study in a university in Buenos Aires.
