Location
India: Bombay (Mumbai)

Term
Throughout the year

  • Description

Also known as "Bollywood, " Bombay is the location of this truly unique opportunity. The Film and Media Internship Program is a combination of academic study and practical experience in the field. The academic course takes place in the first 4 weeks and gives students an introduction to the Indian film Industry. The program will emphasize the inner workings and logistics of film in Mumbai and incorporate visits and lectures from writers, producers, directors, music directors, media executives, actors, film directors, art designers, and fashion choreographers. The last four weeks, students will complete an internship allowing them to meet a variety of professionals from the industry and see a lot of live projects that are taking place in the city at that time. Filmmaking is a creative but arduous task and participants must be willing to work hard and adapt to different surroundings and work environments.

    Student Responsibilities
    - It is compulsory for students to adhere to certain rules and regulations while enrolled in the program. These guidelines are designed keeping in mind the social and cultural context of the film industry in Mumbai. This will ensure effective communication and productive creative engagement between students and their mentors and colleagues on the program:
    - Students will follow appropriate norms of behavior during their interactions with the local coordinator and industry personnel. They will interact in a professional manner; signs of familiarity or other public display of affection are frowned upon.
    - The dress code is semi-formal and conservative without any display of skin.
    - Student will follow the instructions issued by the person/team to which they are assigned with respect and to the fullest. The Indian work culture follows a system of hierarchy which must be respected and adhered to.
    - Heated arguments, verbal exchange, abusive and foul language and racist comments will not be tolerated.
    - If a student violates any of the above rules, his or her program may be terminated without prior notice and the course fee will not be refunded.

  • Highlights

There's simply no other word that convincingly captures the enigma that is India. With its in-your-face diversity, from snow-dusted mountains to sun-washed beaches, tranquil temples to feisty festivals, lantern-lit villages to software-supremo cities, it's hardly surprising that this country has been dubbed the world's most multidimensional. Love it or loathe it, and most visitors see-saw between the two, India promises to jostle your entire being, and no matter where you go or what you do, it is a place you'll never forget.
