Culture tourism: Intern with a local organization to develop / improve tourism programs in the region with the aim to benefit local communities, be economically viable, sustainable and promoting independence.

Revival and preservation of dying folk art: An exciting internship opportunity to work towards saving and popularizing the Pingurli arts, an age-old dying art form. Future plans include designing, creating and marketing lifestyle products using traditional Pingurli arts and crafts in urban and international markets.

Women's empowerment: Volunteer with Women's Self-Help Group across the region that currently markets traditionally cooked food. The objective is to empower the local women's group through economic development.

Highlights

Intern work with a local social enterprise organization dedicated to the preservation of art and culture, traditional customs and lifestyles of rural India through various developmental projects. Interns could work in programs such as culture tourism towards with a goal of strengthening local economy and addressing issues of livelihood and migration. Other programs could include revival of local art and folk culture and women's empowerment and education.

Academic credit now available, up to 6 credits for summer programs and up to 15 for semester programs.

Qualifications

- Between 18-30 Years of Age
- Undergraduate or Graduate Standing in a University, with a Minimum of 2 years of Undergraduate Study Completed
- Relevant Academic Background and/or Work Experience in Desired Field
