The International House Toronto TEFL Certificate is a one-week introductory ESL course designed to equip new teachers with the skills necessary to survive in the classroom for those who don't need to/are unable to commit to a full CELTA, TESL or TESOL course (or would like to see what it's like first). Unlike most introductory courses, the IHT TEFL Certificate includes observed teaching practice and is delivered over five days totalling 30 actual classroom hours.
This course is intended for first language English speakers (without necessarily a post-secondary education) who wish to teach English mainly overseas, or second language speakers with a desire to teach English mainly in their home country.

International House is a worldwide organization that began in 1953 and now has over 140 branches in 54 countries. IH has remained at the forefront of development in the field of language teaching and in the training of language teachers. International House developed the first training courses for teachers of English and has continued to innovate both in pre-service training and teacher development. Globally, the language teachers that we train are acknowledged as amongst the most able, creative and authoritative within their profession. Our teacher training programmes are a hallmark of excellence and outstanding professionalism. IH Teacher Training Centres also have a special commitment to working with teachers whose first language is not English, creating career opportunities for teachers from different backgrounds and working to improve the quality of language teaching provision in the state system.
