Spanish Immersion Courses
- Group lessons (20 - 30 hours per week, Monday through Friday)
- Individual lessons (9 - 15 hours per week)
- Combination: Group lessons + private lessons.
- Custome made program (9 hours per week as a minimum)
- Adventure Program: Lessons Monday through Friday + Weekend trips anywhere in Costa Rica.

Classes and Hours:
Classes are Monday through Friday, and class sizes range from three to six students. Classes are taught entirely in the target language, beginning at 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon and from 1:00 pm. until 3:30.
A student can receive credit for one 3-hour course in a 2-week program of study and two 3-hour courses in a 4-week program of study (50 contact hours per course).
Grades:
Union University operates on the semester calendar and uses a 4-point grading system.

Course numbers and curriculum for the Union University - Intensa program are consistent with the descriptions, syllabi and academic expectations of courses offered on the Union University campus.
Spanish 112 (3 hours) - Elementary Spanish
Pronunciation and fundamental grammatical structure in the language are introduced. Emphasis is placed on the development of all language skills.
Prerequisite: Spanish 111 or its equivalent from an accredited college or university or permission of Program Director. Successful completion of at least 2 of the following 3 modules: Module 4, Module 5, and Module 6.
Spanish 211 (3 hours) - Intermediate Conversation & Grammar
Further development of language skills with the introduction of more advanced grammatical structures is emphasized.
Prerequisite: Spanish 112 or its equivalent from an accredited college or university or permission of Program Director. Successful completion of at least 2 of the following 3 modules: Module 7, Module 8, and Module 9.
Spanish 313 (3 hours) - Advanced Conversation
Advanced comprehension, oral, and written expression of the language are emphasized.
Prerequisite: Spanish 211 or its equivalent from an accredited college or university or permission of Program Director.
Successful completion of at least 2 of the following 3 modules: Module 10, Module 11, and Module 12.

- Intensa is Union University of Tennessee's campus in Costa Rica for accredited Spanish courses.
- Intensa is a member of NAFSA (Association of International Educators).
- All of Intensa's Spanish courses can be tailored to your occupation or your particular needs (i.e. Medical Spanish, Business Spanish, Spanish for Natural Resources, etc.).
Homestay (Selected Costa Rican families), includes:
- Airport pick-up and return
