  • Description

    Students will spend a whole academic year to complete the program from September 12th, 2011 to 30th June, 2012.

    Students accepted to any of the Master's programs listed must also fulfill the internship program in schools of the Comunidad de Madrid.

    The aim of the program is to offer students the possibility of studying the Master“s Program while doing an internship in the Comunidad de Madrid. Students participating will be teaching in schools ranging from Primary to High School.*

    Interns will assist teachers in the classroom. Schools will inform the Instituto Franklin about the number of interns and hours per week needed for each of the schools (18 or 24** hours). Interns will have no labor relation with the schools. The commitment will be for the academic year September to June.

    Interns will receive a monetary compensation which will vary depending on the number of assisting hours per week. If possible, schools will provide free lunch or at a lower price to interns, although Instituto Franklin does not guarantee this service.

  • Highlights

    * Under the internship scheme, participants will teach English and other content courses in English as well as assist teachers in the classroom.

    * Participants can choose between three Master's programs:
    - Master en Ensenanza de la Lengua, Literatura y Cultura en el Mundo Hispanico.
    - Master in Bilingual and Multicultural Education.
    - NEW 2011/ 2012 - Master en Aprendizaje y Ensenanza del Espanol como Lengua Extranjera

    * The Program is primarily devoted to native English speaking students with a Bachelor's Degree interested in the Education field and doing research about some aspect of Spanish literature, language, culture or bilingualism and multicultural education.

    * Students will spend a whole academic year to complete the program (September - June).

    * The internship will have a monetary compensation.

    * Students will be expected to teach English language skills to students in schools of the Comunidad de Madrid. Interns will be working with teachers and will not be responsible for the classes.

    * 18 hours (per week) Interns will get paid the following expenses:

    - Living expenses: 5.800 euros/ divided in 10 months
    - Participant will have to choose one of the following study programs:
    A) MA in Ensenanza de la Lengua, Literatura y Cultura en el Mundo Hispanico: Tuition 10.000 euros
    B) MA in Bilingual and Multicultural Education: Tuition 10.000 euros
    - Approximate Insurance cost: 450 euros

    *24 hours (per week). Interns will get paid the following expenses:

    - Living expenses: 7.500 euros/ divided in 10 months
    - Participant will have to choose one of the following study programs:
    A) MA in Ensenanza de la Lengua, Literatura y Cultura en el Mundo Hispanico: Tuition 10.000 euros
    B) MA in Bilingual and Multicultural Education: Tuition 10.000
    - Approximate Insurance cost: 450 euros

  • Qualifications

    Main Requirements:
    * Students who have completed a Bachelor's Degree.
    * Advanced level of Spanish.
    * GPA of 3.0 (undergraduate).
    * Be a native English speaker.
    * Experience teaching and/or working with children.
    * Maturity, independence, flexibility and patience.
    * Open to have an international & intercultural experience.
    * Ready to face the challenges of living, studying & working abroad.

    Recommended:
    * It is recommended that participants be over 20 years old.
    * Study abroad experience in Spain.
