If you want to explore the rich culture of Latin America but are not able to devote a semester to study abroad, a summer program may be right for you. The Institute for Study Abroad, Butler University, offers two summer programs that allow students to improve language skills and broaden cultural horizons. The summer programs are held in Merida, Mexico, one of the most charming cities in Latin America. Merida's culture reflects a mingling of traditional Mayan and modern Mexican, making this city an ideal place to study cultural contrasts.
IFSA-Butler offers an Intermediate Track and an Advanced Track for the summer Archaeology and Anthropology programs in Mexico. Classes are conducted in the new modern Facultad de Antropologia at the Universidad Autonoma de Yucatan (UADY), the largest, oldest state university in southeast Mexico. The program is designed to accomodate both intermediate language students and those with advanced language skills.
