The Project
Working at a community newspaper is one of the great learning experiences an intern can undertake. I.C.E. has contacts with some of the top community newspapers in the country. With the advent of the internet the community newspaper has come along way with regard to its ability to reach a wide audience on certain topics.
The newspapers that we use allow our interns a hand-on opportunity to perfect the exact skills they are looking to develop. You won't be making coffee in our newspaper placements. Interns can expect to tackle everything from in the field reporting to layout and design to photography.
We assist interns with a strong interest in writing work directly with editors at the paper to generate stories of interest that are fit for print. Several of our interns were able to accumulate an impressive portfolio within just a few months at the papers covering topics as political as Hillary Clinton's official visit to the city to reviews of local High School plays.
The beauty of a community newspaper is that it will give you an in depth looks into a foreign culture from the inside out.
