  • Highlights

ICSW's programs are designed specifically for practicing clinicians. We apply psychodynamic principles broadly to the range of issues that our students confront in their practice settings, seeking to determine and resolve the causes of behavior rather than simply manage it.
We offer three types of programs:

    * The Ph.D. program, with the optional Child & Adolescent Specialization
    * The Advanced Clinical Practice Program, from which students obtain credit that can be applied to the pursuit of a Ph.D.
    * Ongoing professional enrichment programs, including workshops, seminars, lectures, courses, and conferences for the professional community.

  • University Attributes

At the Institute for Clinical Social Work, we're bound by the belief that tomorrow can always be better - for our students and for the communities that our students serve. This belief is rooted in our history.

Established in 1981, ICSW is the first and only accredited, independent school in the nation to offer a doctoral program in clinical social work. ICSW is the nation's premiere doctoral program designed specifically for clinicians who are practicing in the field. You can select from on-site and online formats. You can combine your academic and professional pursuits. You can engage in research that's shaped by your own long-term goals. In other words, you have options. ICSW is a growing community headquartered in downtown Chicago but extending nationwide. Our community is comprised of more than 40 faculty members, 90 students, and 100 graduates, each hoping to make new contributions to the future of clinical social work.
