University studies in the South France for a year, semester or summer. IAU offers three different programs from which students can choose from: The Aix Center, where instruction is given in both French and English, The French Honors Program, for students with a high level of French proficiency, and The Marchutz School of Art, where students enroll in studio art classes and a seminar with two elective courses at The Aix Center. All of IAU's programs are located in Aix-en-Provence, France.

IAU is pleased to announce the addition of The French Honors Program at its Aix Center site. The program is designed for advanced French students to fully immerse themselves into their classrooms, homestays, excursions, and overall IAU experience.

A new J-Term Traveling Seminar is also available for students wishing to travel between the fall and spring semesters. These students travel in France, Spain, Gibraltar and Morocco while studying the European relationship with the Islamic world. Students can attend this program independently, or in addition to their Spring semester at IAU.

Highlights

The Aix Center: a liberal arts program in Aix-en-Provence offering courses in English and French for beginning through advanced French language students and perfect for virtually any liberal arts major.

The French Honors Program: is designed for French majors or other students with demonstrated advanced level French. This program allows students to conduct the entire IAU experience (classes, staff, students and French homestay) in French. Students will attend special activities and excursions in French. This full-immersion program is perfect for refining language skills while studying abroad.

The Marchutz School of Art: for studio and liberal arts majors and located in the countryside of Aix-en-Provence, Marchutz takes an interdisciplinary and holistic approach to art education.

J-Term Traveling Seminar: For students of any discipline who want to travel and study the European relationship with the Islamic world.

IAU offers a USD1,000 scholarship to qualified students who enroll at IAU for a full academic year. In order to determine eligibility, students must contact the U.S. Office.

IAU France - Aix-en-Provence's Mission Statement

The Institute for American Universities (IAU) is a study abroad program located in Aix-en-Provence, France, for undergraduates attending American colleges. Courses are offered in the humanities, social sciences and fine arts in both English and French. Three programs are available In Aix-en-Provence including The Aix Center of Humanities & Social Sciences, The French Honors Program and The Marchutz School of Art. Students participate in a home-stay with a French host where they learn about the people, culture and language of Provence. Excursions to local points of historical and cultural significance are also included. IAU's newest program, The J-Term Traveling Seminar, is also available to students.
