  • Description

Volunteers teaching in the Gambia on this project are crucial to improving education in under-developed regions. As a volunteer in the Gambia you will work in primary schools in the Kombo North region, providing invaluable learning support for schools that suffer from a lack of resources.

Working with a local voluntary organisation, volunteers assist local teachers or take their own classes, teaching English to students whose first language is Mandinka, Fula or Wolof. Entry to secondary school relies on a firm grasp of English so your work can contribute to long-term improvements in quality of life.

This Africa volunteer programme gives you the chance to deploy your communication skills and creativity in rural schools in genuine need of support. With opportunities to get involved in other subject areas and local community initiatives, teaching in Gambia can be a rewarding and varied experience.

  • Highlights

Volunteers teaching in the Gambia have the opportunity to experience real African culture while working in communities in genuine need. Volunteering in the Gambia is a truly unique experience and volunteers can enjoy its magnificent Atlantic coastline beaches and lush riverside scenery during time off from their project.
