  • Description

Since 1950, IES Abroad has been building quality study abroad programs and introducing U.S. students to new places, studies, and ways of thinking. A non-profit educational organization, IES Abroad offers high academic standards and extensive financial aid in almost 80 programs throughout the world.

From the modern towering skyscrapers in Pudong to the colonial architecture of the Bund, this multi-faceted, vibrant city is an ideal study abroad location. Shanghai represents the modern Chinese drive toward industrialization and economic development. Situated at the mouth of the Yangtze River on the banks of the Huangpu, Shanghai was an early hub of trade with the West. It has since become a leading Asian metropolis. Shanghai also represents China's drive toward globalization and the impact of modernization on Chinese culture.

The Shanghai Program is ideal for students interested in international business, as well as exploring economic and social development. IES Abroad Shanghai programming focuses on the city's economic influence and prominence in China's increasingly influential economy. The program also focuses on how the city's growth has affected its culture and people.

IES Shanghai is organized in partnership with the School of Social Development and Public Policy at Fudan University, one of the highest-ranked universities in China. Elective joint IES-Fudan courses taught in English give IES students the rare opportunity to study alongside Chinese peers.
