Spain
Share |

Location
Spain: Salamanca

Term
Academic Year, Fall, Spring

  • Description

Situated on the northwestern corner of the beautiful Castilian plain not far from the border of Portugal, Salamanca proudly identifies itself as the home of one of Europe's premiere universities. The Universidad de Salamanca, nicknamed the "Oxford of the Spanish World," opened in 1218. Since then Salamanca has welcomed students from Spain and all parts of the world; it enrolls a resident student population of 32,000 and an additional 6,000 international students.

The combination of a large, famous university in a small, hospitable city makes Salamanca the ideal place to live and study Spanish language and culture.

As a language immersion program, the IES Abroad Salamanca Program curriculum focuses on improving your written and oral proficiency in Spanish. Both the language and area studies courses are designed to build your language skills. IES Abroad classes are held in university classrooms, and the faculty members who teach for IES Abroad hold regular university appointments.

Partner universities: Universidad de Salamanca and Universidad Pontificia de Salamanca.
