The IES Abroad Southeast Asian Development Program is designed for students who want to understand the economic issues occurring in the Mekong River Region extending from Tibet, through the Yunnan province to Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam and Thailand. In addition to examining economic relations, development, and resource sharing in this region, you will retain a better understanding of the Chinese culture through a language course.

The University of Yunnan
The IES Abroad Kunming Summer Program operates from the main campus of the University of Yunnan, which is located on Yi'eryi Street in central Kunming.

Highlights

The IES Abroad Kunming China & Southeast Asian Development Summer Program is designed for students who want to experience contemporary Chinese culture from an economic Chinese and Southeast Asian perspective in a challenging academic environment. Language courses develop your written and oral proficiency in Chinese, while the core course teaches you about economic development in the region.

You have the opportunity to enroll in:
* a 3-credit Chinese language course
* a 4-credit core course with a field study component: Economic Development of the Greater Mekong Sub-region

Additional exciting aspects of the program include:
* Live in Yunnan University residence halls.
* Participate in field trips to places such as Dali, Yunnan, Vietnam, and Laos.
