Study abroad in Barcelona -- Spain's second largest city and capital of the autonomous province of Catalonia, one of the most prosperous areas in contemporary Spain. Barcelona was once home to prominent 20th century artists like Pablo Picasso and Joan Miro. The experimental works of the Art Nouveau architect Antoni Gaudi are one of the city's unique attractions. His Templo de la Sagrada Familia, still unfinished but strikingly original, is a landmark symbol of the city of Barcelona.
Over the course of the semester, you will come to know Barcelona's vibrant plazas and winding streets. IES Abroad's Barcelona Advanced Spanish Studies Program offers enrollment in IES Abroad courses and courses at prestigious Spanish partner universities, housing in homestays with local families or in student residence halls, a wide array of internships, and field trips; you will have the opportunity to meet Spanish and international students alike. Starting at the IES Abroad Center in the center of Barcelona near the Plaza Catalunya, this program will help you to gain a meaningful cultural experience and a deeper knowledge of what it means to be a citizen of the world.
This program gives students with advanced Spanish language skills the opportunity to study Spanish among students of a similar skill level while living in one of Spain's most vibrant cities. Students are required to take all courses in Spanish.
