Amazing and unforgettable experience

Me and my friend spent about three months with Idex in Kathmandu and the whole time was great! I'm very thankful for the people I got to know, both the other volunteers and the employees, lovely people that have become friends for life. Also thankful for the opportunity to learn more about this beautiful country, its interesting culture and helpful people. Working for and living with Idex was a very good first "long trip away from home" since we all were very well taken care of. The staff also always happily helped us book different excursions or give us advice on what to see and how. The first two weeks they provided us with two already arranged excursions to Chitwan and Pokhara and taught us fun things about the Nepalese culture and such, so much fun!

The projects are lots of fun and they are needed. They are also quite different from each other so if you stay long you can try different things to work with. On your spare time there's plenty to do and see and you will always find out about something more you wanna do or see in this mysterious and beautiful country. I really recommend this and hopefully I will return one day! This, I wanna add, I say even though we where there during the earthquake last year. The organisation took so well care of us, I felt safe, we had everything we needed and we where still smiling and playing together and with the kids in the neighborhood. This trip only wanted me too continue travelling, which I have done. If the staff hadn't taken care of us so good, I might not have felt the same way.

Experience India

I have spent now 3 of my 4 weeks in India and I enjoyed my time very much. The program is well organized, you always have someone you can talk to and ask questions. I felt safe all the time. the food was great, especially in Jaipur! And of course, Priya accompanying us all the way, was supporting us, fighting for our seats on the trains :-) and always making sure we were feeling good. Thank you Priya!!
Overall a very good program and experience!

Adventure Travel India

During this Trip i felt very safe and well informed. The staff in the IDEX accommodations were always nice and friendly. Specially our Guide Priya was always by our side and helped us when we had questions. She was happy and joking the whole 3 weeks and was a big support. I cant say anything bad about her because she was great. Thank you Priya :)

Indian Experience

This has been a truly great adventure. It started of in Delhi's bustling city life, with siteseeing and shopping possibilities, a good but hectic start of the Indian adventure. Afterwards we went to Agra by car, where we saw the great Taj Mahal and had a great guide! Throughout the journey we've experienced volunteer work in Jaipur, with incredibly quite and eager kids from the elephant village, we've been in Himachal Pradesh, seen the stunning nature, had yoga with view of the snowy mountain tops, and actually visited the mountains: on our trekking to the Triund top from McLeodGanj. The trip offers experiences in different climates, the incredibly hot Jaipur and Pushkar, the moderate Palampur, and the freezing Himalaya mountains. We've mostly traveled by car, but also had the experience of a genuine Indian train ride with the night train to and from Himachal Pradesh. From our first and last day in Delhi, going along with us to Jaipur, agra, Pushkar and Himalaya, Priya our lovely guide has been with us, providing answers and help in every situation. The journey is very well planned, except for a few things (see section below), and we've gotten to visit beautiful temples, forts, museums (except one ridiculous one), and also gotten to have enough time to enjoy free time to explore on our own terms.

My overall experience has been amazing, but there are a couple of things I would've liked to know in advance/would've like to be a bit better planned.
1.) As a celiac, a person with strong gluten intolerance, I was promised that there would be absolutely no problems. And all though this is true for most of the places (the cooks in Jaipur where especially amazing), this was not the reality. Either Priya, or the locals cooks would forget when preparing packed lunches and dinners, which would result in rushed and unprepared meals before train journeys and trekking. So keep in mind that this is not a common issue in India, so if you have an allergy, be sure to mention it too often rather than too seldom, that will resolve the problem.
2. Because they book the different train journeys and your flight (from Delhi to Goa) the moment you sign up for the program you will be put in different seats spread all across the train, and on all different flights. Priya talked to people on the train and managed to find us all seats together, both of the times, but this would take many uneasy hours of restless activities on the train before the people with our wanted seats would get on. I would rather like for the company to wait with the ticket purchases so that we could all try and book seats together. This of course is only a minor flaw, and to be expected whilst travelling here in India.
3. I did a month in India before I started this trip, and at least in the beginning, they would take us to very expensive restaurants and lunch places compared to where I had dined the last month (which were not at all bad or dirty restaurants)- if you're concerned about your budget, just let them now and they will take you to cheaper (still clean and good) places. No one has gotten ill yet:) Also, this program is designed to be an introduction to India, low impact volunteering and many touristy places. If you have been in India beforehand, I would recommend doing another trip than this one, but would still look at Idex' journeys.

Indian Experience

I really enjoyed this trip as we were able to see a lot of India within 4 weeks. there was some great new experiences thrown in too like taking the night train and visiting the elephant village and school. There was many opportunities to try local food and learn about the local culture in dance classes, henna classes and sari classes. The trip also ends nicely at Goa giving us the chance to relax and enjoy some beautiful beaches. Are guide throughout the first 20 days was great she had great enthusiasm throughout and was very helpful if there were any issues. Her henna skills were also great. Overall this was a great trip and i would recommend to a first time traveler as there is support throughout the trip.
