IAU College - The French Honors Program
Description
The French Honors Program is designed for French Majors or other students with demonstrated advanced level French, interested in a comprehensive language and cultural immersion program. As part of the program, students will take a required four unit French honors course which will include one fall or spring semester content course, chosen by the student, as well as an additional seminar style class meeting each week. This hour long weekly seminar will integrate the themes of the students' chosen course with current sociocultural-political events in France. Students will be expected to keep a daily journal of thoughts, feelings and experiences in French. This journal will be examined and discussed on a regular basis in the weekly seminar meeting.
IAU provides access to unpaid internships available at local enterprises for Fall and Spring students. Interested students should have at least four semesters of college French and provide their resume before the start of the semester. Pre-Interviews for these positions will be conducted within the first week of the semester. Most internships will allow for a 10-day trial period, after which the commitment cannot be broken. The internships listed below are the regular positions we offer students. We are constantly in the process of recruiting new positions so requests for particular internships are accepted. Students can expect 3 units of credit for an internship.
