Join the Ultimate Tanzania tour and you will be amazed at how much you can see and do in just four short weeks. You will start off visiting the fantastic capital city of Dar es Salaam and then head to the famous Selous Game Reserve to see wildlife roaming free in their natural habitat. After a week working with the local community in Moshi you'll then head off to experience life with a masai community and a safari in the world famous N'gorongoro crater. Finally, as a reward for your efforts, you will be whisked away to the beach paradise of Zanzibar for some sun, sand and plenty of free time to explore the island.
*Day 1: Arrive in Dar es Salaam
Today you will be picked up from the airport and taken to your accommodation on the coast just outside Dar es Salaam. You will have the evening to relax and prepare for your exciting journey. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included.
*Day 2: Orientation
After a filling breakfast you will have an orientation on life in Tanzania. In the afternoon you will take a tour of the vibrant Tanzanian capital city, Dar es Salaam. With it's busy streets, friendly people, and hot and humid climate you'll really know you've arrived! Breakfast and dinner are included.
*Day 3: Selous Game Reserve
Get ready to see some amazing wildlife as we travel to the Selous Game Reserve, a world heritage sight and home of the largest population of elephants in Tanzania. It's around a 6 hour drive but a lots of great views on the way! Breakfast and dinner are included.
*Day 4: Selous Game Reserve
Today you will go on a game drive for a chance to see the amazing wildlife and landscape of the Selous. You're likely to see elephant, hippo, monkeys, crocodiles and hopefully lion - amongst a huge range of other animals that make Selous one of the most stunning areas of the country. In the afternoon you will relax in the soothing volcanic hot springs. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included.
*Day 5: Selous Game Reserve
Another game drive today gives you the chance to see any animals you missed out on yesterday! In the late afternoon you will head back to Dar es Salaam where you will spend the night. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included.
*Day 6: Beach near Dar es Salaam
Spend the day enjoying the fresh ocean air and relaxing on the sandy beaches near Dar es Salaam. Some optional activities available at the accommodation may include African dancing lesson, batik making lessons and Kiswahili lessons.Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included.
*Day 7: Coral Islands
Enter a world of brightly coloured coral, tropical fish and cool blue seas as you visit the beautiful Coral Islands just off the coast of Dar es Salaam. Breakfast and dinner are included.
*Day 8: Transfer to Moshi
Today you will take the long drive to the small town of Moshi, located at the foot of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Moshi is a lovely relaxed town with friendly people and stunning views of Mt Kilimanjaro. This is where you will spend the next week working with young children in the community. Breakfast and dinner are included.
*Day 9: Orientation in Moshi
After breakfast you will have a brief orientation on Moshi and your volunteer project. You will have the afternoon free to settle in and explore the charming town of Moshi. Breakfast and dinner are included.
*Day 10 to 14: Volunteering in Moshi
Get ready to get to work! You will spend the next week working with young children in Moshi. Over the next few days you will be caring for and teaching children at one of a variety of projects in and around the town. Your task will be to make learning fun so singing songs; playing sports and laughing with the children are all highly encouraged! Breakfast and dinner are included.
*Day 15: Transfer to Masai village
You have never spent a night like this! Tonight you will sleep like the Masai do, in a mud hut on a cow skin bed (be sure to take some warm clothes as there is no central heating in the huts!) and get to experience a totally different and unique side of Africa. Breakfast and dinner are included.
*Day 16: N'Gorongoro Crater
After a scenic 40 minute drive you will arrive at the fantastic N'Gorongoro crater. This area is not only beautiful but also one of the world's best places to spot rhino, leopards and cheetahs. Lions, antelopes, gazelles and flamingos also call the crater home. You will have a full day to explore this breathtaking area. Breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
*Day 17: Trekking around the foothills of Mt. Kilimanjaro
Get your walking boots on and get ready to enter the lush wildness at the foot of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Enjoy amazing views as you hike in the shadows of Africa's highest peak. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included.
*Day 18: Transfer to Dar es Salaam
Today you will take the long journey back to Dar es Salaam for some rest and relaxation. Don't get too settled though because tomorrow you are off to the island paradise of Zanzibar. Breakfast and dinner are included.
*Day 19: Ferry to Zanzibar
There is nothing like the feel of fresh sea water on your face as you travel from the mainland to Zanzibar. Tonight you will have a chance to explore the island and allow the warm sand to give your feet that much needed massage. Breakfast is included.
*Day 20: Stone Town tour
Stone Town is one of the most historic towns in all of East Africa and today you will have plenty of time to immerse yourself in this fascinating piece of history. You will be given a free ticket to the museum and have plenty of time to explore the area. Breakfast is included.
*Day 21: Spice tour
Come and see how spices are bought and sold in Zanzibar. Today you will take a trip to the spice market and see first-hand how the locals troll for the best spice deals.You are guaranteed to find some amazing bargains. Breakfast is included.
*Day 22: Dolphin Bay
Ever dreamed of swimming with dolphins? Well with a bit of luck, today is your chance. Although the dolphins are not always around you may well be blessed with the sight of happy, splashing dolphins surrounding you in the clear blue water. Breakfast is included.
*Days 23 - 25: Time to explore!
Take some time to get to know Stone Town on a more intimate basis. Wandering the streets in search of a delicious coffee or browse the shops where you are sure to find some fantastic souvenirs. Breakfast is included.
*Day 26-27: Quality beach time!
Say your goodbyes to Stone Town and head to your 'guest house' by the beach. Catch up on your reading, go for a swim or simply sit back and relax. Enjoy the island lifestyle and try and keep pace with the locals. Breakfast is included.
*Day 28: Ferry to Dar es Salaam
Sadly today you will leave Zanzibar and make the journey back to Dar es Salaam. Say your goodbyes as tonight is your last night to enjoy the Ultimate Tanzania experience. Breakfast and dinner are included.
*Day 29: Transfer to airport
You will be taken to the airport in time to board your flight back home. Feeling refreshed and exhilarated you wont want to believe that the best month of your life has come to an end. Breakfast is included.
