With its bridges, tunnels and huge constructions such as the Delta Works, the Netherlands has acquired an excellent reputation in civil engineering worldwide. Civil Engineering at HZ specializes in Coastal Engineering. This area of civil engineering is related to above and below ground building, hydraulic engineering,road construction, pipeline design, bridges, dams,storm sewers, levees and canals. As a future civil and environmental engineer, you will learn how to design the dikes and dunes that will protect us in the future, and keep our feet dry in river and coastal areas.
Civil Engineering at HZ provides students with theoretical education, but also focuses on practical components. Two work placements of each 5 months are part of the Bachelor program. Students work on (international) construction projects, specialize in hydraulic engineering and coastal protection.
