  • Highlights

  • Qualifications

    Food & Beverage Internship - minimum of 6 months F & B experience in a restaurant, hotel or pub

    Housekeeping Internship - experience a plus but any cleaning experience and the right attitude will get you a long way.

    Front Office Internship - 12 months Front Desk or Front Office experience essential for Australian placement.

    Porter/ Concierge - 12 months Porter or Concierge experience essential for Australian placement.

    What is included before you depart

    * CV/ Resume and cover letter writing assistance
    * Phone interview tips and training
    * Paid placement, confirmed before you depart to Australia
    * Assistance looking at flights and insurance
    * Assistance opening an Australian bank account before you depart
    * Australian arrival instructions emailed to you before you depart including:
    o Airport transfer details
    o First two nights accommodation details
    o Details of your first day at work
    o Pre-departure checklist
    o Contact details for your Australian support team
    o Instructions on applying for your Australian tax file number
    * Assistance gaining your compulsory Australian RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol) certificate online
    * Assistance applying for your Australian work visa
    * If the internship is part of your studies, we will liaise with your placement office. It is your responsibility to ensure the programme meets the requirements of your university.

    What is included in Australia

    * 2 nights accommodation in Brisbane
    * Airport transfer from Brisbane airport to your accommodation in Brisbane
    * Full support from The HTE Internships team
    * Greeted at the resort by an employee host
    * Introduction to an Australian company to lodge a tax return (optional)

  • Salary/Pay

    Your wage will be set by your Australian employer, this will be no less than AUD17 per hour. Most resorts pay more than this, up to AUD22 per hour. In Australia, you will work on average 38 hours per week, with the opportunity of working up to 15 hours of overtime each week. So you will be paid very well, in most cases more than you would be paid working in a hotel back home. Subsidised staff accommodation is available on the island as well as staff discounts on attractions and activities.
