Internships exist in a variety of nonprofit organizations covering several fields: Childcare, Education, Environment, Microfinance, Youth Development, Health and Nutrition, among others. Since it's a flexible program, interns choose when and for how long they come, and what work they want to do, and everyone will experience the rich Colombian culture through guided excursions and cultural activities. Our goal is that you have a stimulating, rewarding and safe experience in our country. Each program combines service and cultural activities so you truly are immersed in the Colombian culture and gain a unique perspective of the global community.

Heart for Change is a social enterprise founded by a philanthropic group of Colombians to encourage intercultural exchanges with a service component. Whether volunteering in a local organization, learning Spanish, studying abroad in a unique setting, or traveling with a guide to diverse parts of the country there is always a focus on the service work happening in Colombia. This is made possible through Heart for Change's alliances with foundations in different regions of the country to support their causes with the help of international volunteers and visitors.

Highlights

There are not many Colombia internship and volunteer programs out there. Fewer still that are founded and run by Colombians. Take advantage of this rare and intimate chance to get to know Colombia!

Colombia boasts the third largest population of Spanish speakers and some of the most talented Spanish writers including Gabriel García Márquez of Love in the Time of Cholera and 100 Years of Solitude.

The variety of landscapes in Colombia cannot be experienced in many other places, from beach to Andes to Amazon.

We welcome anyone with the heart to change the world and interest in knowing the wonderful country of Colombia. Volunteer positions have specific skill and language requirements depending on the local non-profit organization's needs.

* Spanish Not Required
There are positions for all types, from complete Spanish beginners with limited professional experience to experts in their field with advanced abilities in Spanish. If you want Spanish classes, we can provide them.

Heart for Change's Mission Statement

Our program' s mission is to bring socially-aware foreigners to have an intercultural exchange by volunteering in different organizations in Colombia. Our vision is to create ambassadors for our causes, so that they can multiply a positive image of Colombia. We want our volunteers to come to Colombia to gain academic credits and grow personally and professionally while helping a good cause. We want to empower and strengthen the local organizations with the knowledge, vision, and innovation that foreign volunteers bring. Our aim is to establish the concept of Social Tourism and Voluntourism in Colombia, to attract more socially committed people to our country.
