  • Description

    This once-in-a-lifetime experience is offered through Adams State College in Alamosa, Colorado, and upon successful completion, students will earn three history credits. The study abroad portion of the program includes three days in London, with class visits to the Houses of Parliament and the British Library and plenty of free time to explore the city on your own. Then you travel a short way to Cambridge where you will spend one week in lectures at historic Caius College with free time for sightseeing in and around this beautiful and inspiring city. After celebrating the completion of your coursework, you will travel back to London to return to the United States or continue traveling on your own. London is a great launching place for excursions throughout Great Britain and the European Continent.

    Throughout the course, you will learn these essential Common Law concepts and more:

    * History and development of the English and American Legal Systems
    * An extensive look at the similarities and differences between the English and American Legal Systems including stare decisis, the Bill of Rights, Parliament, and Congress.
    * Future implications for the U.S. legal system
    * Practice of court procedure through moot court trials in the different settings of The Court of Chancery and the District/Superior Court.

    The cost for this three-credit program is USD 360. The travel and accommodation fee (not included) is approximately USD 2,000 and includes the following:

    * A welcome reception
    * Three nights lodging and breakfast in London and eight nights lodging and breakfast in Cambridge (per person based on double-occupancy.)
    * Class-sponsored sightseeing trips
    * Most lunches and dinners while in Cambridge
    * Some lunches in London
    * Roundtrip transportation between London and Cambridge

    The travel and accommodation fee does not include dinners in London; sightseeing outside of class time; roundtrip transportation from the U.S. to London and transportation from London airports to the hotel.
