Harlaxton College is a study abroad semester for U.S. college/university sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Harlaxton is not degree-granting. It is owned and operated by the University of Evansville in Indiana. All courses are accredited and usually transfer easily to other U.S. colleges. Classes differ somewhat every semester but always include the required British Studies class for six hours' credit. Classes in liberal arts, business, education, nursing, and social sciences are also offered and often considered among the best students have had.
Harlaxton is a full service study abroad program: it offers assistance in departure, adjusting, and traveling.
Approximately 150 students live and study in a unique Victorian Manor house and its carriage house located 110 miles north of London.
In addition to quality classes, Harlaxton offers optional weekend field trips to London; York; Edinburgh; Cambridge; Ireland; North Wales; the Lake District; Coventry and Stratford; Oxford, Bath and Stonehenge; and Paris. End of semester trips are available to Italy and sometimes to Greece. Student activities include a Meet-a-Family program where students meet with locals socially and a competitive sports program. Fall semester students celebrate both Guy Fawkes Day and Thanksgiving. Each semester there is a talent show and a Costume Ball.
Harlaxton College has been among the Top 25 study abroad programs by The Student's Guide to the Best Study Abroad Programs.
