Volunteering in Argentina at the community center in La Boca will give you the opportunity to learn how grassroots outreach organizations function, but it will also give you first hand insight into the many issues the people of La Boca face. This center is unique in that the people who benefit from the services provided are also the people who run and operate the center. As members of the community they know their needs better than anyone and through the center they work together to make sure those needs are met. Working at this volunteer project in the Buenos Aires province, you will be able to get involved with more than one initiative depending on your interests and skills. Whether your volunteer work involves preparing meals or teaching people how to use computers, you'll come away feeling deeply connected to this colorful neighborhood of Buenos Aires.

Our staff in the U.S. are experienced volunteers themselves who are happy to share their experiences and expertise with prospective volunteers. Our partner staff in Argentina are friendly, caring and dedicated to ensuring that all our volunteers have a rewarding experience. All volunteers will be taken to their host family upon arrival and given an orientation within the first few days.

Qualifications

Minimum commitment is 4 weeks. Experience or education in counseling, teaching and/or youth work is helpful, but not required. An intermediate level of Spanish is required.
