Description

Consider going for this beautiful white water trip in a pristine area of Southern Baikal. This tour is available for all age groups and does not require any special skills. The itinerary presents a good opportunity for extensions and it can be used in combination with horseback riding or trekking or with any other activity you choose.

* Day 1
Transfer from Irkutsk to Arshan by bus (210 km). Accommodation at a hotel. Time at leisure. Lunch at the hotel. Overnight at the hotel. (meals incl.: lunch)

* Day 2
Breakfast at the hotel. Sightseeing tour of Arshan, during which you will visit the unique artesian springs, a splendid waterfall in the Kyngarga mountain river canyon, and the local datsan Buddhist church, located at the picturesque Eastern Sayan foothills. Lunch. Time at leisure. Overnight at the hotel. (meals incl.: breakfast, lunch)

* Day 3
Breakfast at the hotel. Bus transfer from Arshan to the Irkut River near Bystroye village (120 km). Getting ready for the rafting: packing your things in dry bags, inflating rafts and receiving safety instructions. Lunch-picnic on the river bank, after which you set off for the rafting: your route runs through the deep valley with plummeting high sides resembling giant rocky walls. On the way you will have to overcome small riffles and shallows (Class I-II). Overnight stopover not far from a Class-II obstruction called Maliy (Lesser) Rapid. Dinner cooked on the campfire. Time at leisure. Overnight in tents. (meals incl.: breakfast, lunch, dinner)

* Day 4
Breakfast at the camp, launching rafts. The second rafting day is full of obstructions and magnificent landscapes. The most prominent obstacle today is the Bolshoy (Larger) Rapid (Class III) at the gorges outlet challenging by its considerable slope, power and during floods waves up to 1.5 m. Boxed lunch en route. Overnight stopover next to the Motskiy Rapid (Class II). Dinner cooked on the campfire. Time at leisure. Overnight in tents. (meals incl.: breakfast, lunch, dinner)

* Day 5
Breakfast at the camp. Rafting to Shamanka village. This day you can indulge in watching huge rocky walls rising above the water, different cliffs-remnants, and other beauties of the Siberian taiga. Straight after the village you will see the huge red-brown wall of the scenic Shaman cliff. You can feast your eyes on this stunning scenery during the last 2 km before the mooring on the right bank near the ferry. Lunch. Deflating rafts. Departure by bus to Irkutsk.
