Highlights

* Day 1
Bus transfer from Irkutsk to Nilova Pustin settlement (251 km), located in the famous Tunka Valley. En route stop at a roadside cafe for lunch (for extra charge).
Stopover for the night in the forest, setting up tents. Dinner cooked on the campfire. Overnight in tents. (meals incl.: dinner)

* Day 2
Breakfast in the camp. Hike to the forest's edge. Light picnic en route (boxed lunch). The picturesque path is clean and safe and surrounded by thickets of local herbs: Sagaandailya (White Wing), prairieweed, isles of Camels Tail and multitudes of mountain flowers. Dinner cooked on the campfire, overnight in tents. (meals incl.: breakfast, lunch, dinner)

* Day 3
Breakfast in the camp. Trekking to the bottom of the mountain pass. In fine weather, this long trail is not really challenging. Light picnic (boxed lunch) under the mountains saddle. Ascent to Shumaks pass (2760 m.). Going down to the forest's edge. Dinner cooked on the campfire. Overnight in tents in the valley of the Shumak river by a scenic waterfall. (meals incl.: breakfast, lunch, dinner)

* Day 4
Breakfast in the camp. Hike to the Shumak Springs (4-5 hours en route). Lunch, setting up tents. Time to explore the healing springs and soak in the radon pool.
Dinner cooked on the campfire, overnight in tents. (meals incl.: breakfast, lunch, dinner)

* Day 5
Breakfast in the camp. Time at leisure. You may either continue soaking in the mineral springs or have a hike (approx. 7 km one way) down the Shumak River to the sandy columns towering on the opposite bank like fairytale giants. During this trip your lunch will be preceded by a traditional ancient rite: by the columns, there is a special Shamanist altar, where people have to burn the first spoonful of the cooked meal as a donation to the local spirits. Return to the springs. Dinner cooked on the campfire. Overnight in tents. (meals incl.: breakfast, lunch, dinner)

* Day 6
Late breakfast in the camp. Return to the start-point of our tour by the already familiar path. Going up the Shumak river to the forests edge. Light picnic en route (boxed lunch). Stopover for the night. Dinner cooked on the campfire. Overnight in tents. (meals incl.: breakfast, lunch, dinner)

* Day 7
Breakfast in the camp. Crossing Shumak Pass. Descending to the forest's edge on the Yekhe-Ger River. Dinner cooked on the campfire. Overnight in tents. (meals incl.: breakfast, lunch, dinner)

* Day 8
Breakfast in the camp. Trekking to Nilova Pustin settlement. Dinner cooked on the campfire. Overnight in tents. (meals incl.: breakfast, lunch, dinner)

* Day 9
Breakfast in the camp. Bus transfer to Irkutsk. (meals incl.: breakfast)
