Director of Mitigation and Adaptation

Qualifications

- Master’s or higher degree in economics, development studies, or a technical or engineering field relevant to climate change mitigation or adaptation
- Minimum of 15 years in implementing investment and reform projects and programs related to climate change adaptation and mitigation, preferably including the work in developing countries
- Proven experience in implementing investment and reform projects and programmes related to climate change adaptation and mitigation, preferably including the work in developing countries
- Experienced in the financial instruments of GCF for public sector
- Demonstrated knowledge and capacity to work in a multicultural environment, mainly with Government institutions
- Ability to represent the GCF at high-level meetings, as well as to interact with beneficiaries and present to Board members
- Strong technical leadership and project management experience
- Demonstrated experience with prioritizing multiple assignments, meeting tight deadlines, and willingness to be flexible with the lean staff in a fast-paced environment
- Proven management experience with the successful leadership and mentoring of professional and support staff to build talent for the future
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability and personality to work collaboratively
- Experience dealing with Boards at international organizations is required
- Fluency in English is essential; knowledge of another United Nations language is an advantage
