Program begins every summer usually in July


Applicants Must:
21 years old and older
Be a high school graduate
Have some college experience or two years work experience
Have some international travel, study abroad, work, or volunteer experience
Be proficient in Spanish

Program Fees Include:

The pre-departure orientation lasts for three weeks usually in July through a collaborative effort with other international volunteer organizations. Then, there is another one-week orientation specific to Good Shepherd Volunteers in August prior to departure.

Typical Volunteer

Good Shepherd Volunteers are men and women who are dedicated to the social work field with a particular focus on the four tenets of the program which are community, simplicity, social justice, and spirituality. The volunteers are very diverse in age, religion, sexual orientation, ethnicity. Diversity is strongly embraced by the program.
