  • Description

The area of Vilanculos, Mozambique is a tropical rural village along the South Eastern coastline of Mozambique, along the Indian Ocean. The views are breathtaking, but the local community is in need of your help. Volunteers should be prepared to involve themselves in a wide variety of initiatives, as the project in Mozambique is constantly evolving. In the past volunteers have provided the necessary resources to create new classrooms, and study centers, created a working vegetable garden for the children as a method of teaching sustainable living as well as healthy eating, and provided essential help in schooling and teaching environments.

Volunteer work may include but is in no way limited to:

    - Singing and dancing with the children
    - Engaging the students' imaginations through painting, arts and crafts, etc.
    - Teaching basic English games to study colors, numbers, and general knowledge (with the help of a translator)
    - General upkeep of the school and other associated structures
    - Gardening with the children
    - Initiating new projects
    - Rural home building

Volunteers reside in thatched bungalows right on the beach! Each bungalow consists of two rooms, and an suite bathroom with toilet and shower. There is also a kitchen, a lounge area, a garden, a swimming pool, and even a fire pit area on the property. 3 meals per day are provided to the volunteers, but you are occasionally required to assist with the cooking and cleaning. On the weekends, there are cooks who come to prepare your meals.
