The University of Auckland was established in 1883 and has grown into an international center of learning and academic excellence. The University offers a world-class education to 40,000 students, more than 4,700 of whom are international students coming from over 90 countries. The participation of international students in the University of Auckland strengthens relations between our countries and enriches the life and culture of the University.

Auckland, New Zealand's largest city has a population of around 1.4 million, which represents approximately one third of the population of the whole country. Situated in the north of New Zealand's North Island it occupies a narrow isthmus between two stunning harbors. Auckland is also the gateway to surrounding attractions, being just a few short hours drive from the scenic delights of tropical Northland, the ski fields and rivers of the central North Island, and the secluded beaches of the Coromandel Peninsula.

The range of courses available at the University of Auckland is extensive and academically diverse. Many courses and research activities reflect the place of Auckland and New Zealand in the world.

We design our programs so that our local and overseas staff are available 24 hours a day to support you in health and safety matters and are also key in enhancing your study abroad experience. Through our planned activities and resident directors personal recommendations for activities you can undertake while abroad, you will be directed on a path of personal, academic, cultural, social, and professional discovery. This team, which supports you throughout your experience, will ensure that you have the most fulfilling experience possible - one that is unique to you! So... What Will You Discover?


Auckland has something to offer everyone, including great outdoors adventures such as bungee jumping, fishing, diving, surfing, sailing, parachuting, microlighting, horse-trekking- the list goes on. Auckland also provides an array of cosmopolitan experiences, such as concerts, theatrical performances, sporting events, scenic walks and art galleries. The newly developed waterfront offers an exciting nightlife with a variety of restaurants, clubs, bars and pubs. iSPACE, the international students activities center, offers a wide range of programs to ensure that students get the most from their Study Abroad experience. Activities such as surfing, tramping, and sailing are offered on a regular basis. Students also have to opportunity to join any of the 100 student clubs operating on campus. The Recreation Center, at the city campus, provides facilities for most indoor sporting and fitness activities.

* In addition to our multi-day Bridging Cultures Orientation Program, GlobaLinks Learning Abroad includes excursions in our Australia, New Zealand, and Fiji semester/year abroad programs. Each participant can choose one of the following four exciting excursions: Legian Beach in Bali, Queenstown and Milford sound in New Zealand, a Fiji island resort, or the Whitsundays in Australia! All tour costs are included, and all you have to do is get yourself to the departure point.

Program fee includes tuition for 3-4 subjects, guaranteed pre-arranged housing to fit your lifestyle, GlobaLinks Learning Abroad Bridging Cultures Program on-site in Auckland and Rotorua, New Zealand, optional spring break tours, access to our U.S. University of Record, affiliate student fee discounts, end of program workshop, university administrative fees, overseas health coverage, all pre-trip services including orientation materials, visa-processing service (excluding the visa fee), personal advising, subject selections, liaison with your home university, credit transfer assistance, financial aid services, and 24-hour assistance while abroad.
