  • Description

This 6 month internship is a great chance for in-field training and hands on work experience. The first three months are spent learning Spanish and assisting on Global Vision International's community development projects in Peru and Ecuador. This is a fun and very effective way to Learn Spanish, completely immersing you in the language and culture. During this phase you will complete 200 hours of one-on-one Spanish classes, teach in the communities and shadow GVI field staff to assist with the running of the project. At the end of the first three months, you will either continue working in Peru or can opt to move to Ecuador.

At the end of the 6 months training, qualifying candidates will be given the chance to work for GVI or selected partner organizations in their chosen country or in other countries around the world where GVI operate. GVI has worked closely with many higher education facilities to link this internship program with academic qualifications and/or a Year in Industry as part of a higher education qualification. Please contact us for more information.

As an intern you will live with local families both in Arequipa and Otavalo in accommodation that is basic yet comfortable. This gives you a more enriched cultural experience and the valuable opportunity to practice your Spanish! You will have your own private room, hot water and three meals a day will be provided when you are with the family. The food is very typical of the area and is varied, including meats, plenty of vegetables and fruits. Vegetarians are also well catered for. All intern live fairly near to each other and other volunteers.
