  • Description

    This internship offers 12 weeks training near Cape Town with a GVI dedicated staff mentor to ensure that you maximise your placement, cultural and learning activities, followed by a work placement in South Africa for either 3, 6 or 9 months. You will undertake teaching and training workshops, gain an internationally recognised certificate in Team Leading and assist with the running of the program. You will undertake various different activities such as teach in the communities, coach sports or general childcare, and you will shadow GVI field staff. Typically, you will be working with healthy as well as mentally and physically disabled children aged between 12 months and 12 years, contributing to basic education, childcare, sports and creative play projects. This internship aims to allow the participants great personal and professional development and the opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of underprivileged children. Paid and unpaid jobs may be available for qualifying candidates at the end of their internship.

  • Qualifications

    Applicants do not need specific qualifications or experience. GVI's comprehensive training program will provide volunteers with all the skills, including practical communication and classroom management skills. Participants must also be enthusiastic, adventurous, have a good sense of humour and be respectful of the host country and its culture.
