  • Description

If you're interested in Buddhist culture and practices, then this project is just for you. Youll spend four weeks teaching English in the Buddhist monastery in Nepal. The adults and children at the monastery spend most of their lives within its grounds, so our project is intended to provide them with a valuable chance to learn English from an international teacher.

You can live in the monastery itself, and experience the life of a Buddhist monk firsthand. Were offering you a unique opportunity to learn more about this fascinating culture, and to share your cultural experiences with the people at the monastery.

This is one of our most popular projects in Nepal. Our adventurers always report that this project was a highlight, and it gets a great response from the monks too.

  • Highlights

Youll be expected to teach at the monastery for one to two hours every day; after that you might teach for an additional one to two hours at a nearby school. Youll have time in your schedule to plan lessons and materials, and evaluate the lessons youve delivered.

Youll be teaching between 8 and 15 children when teaching at the monastery. Youll be asked to teach children, and novice monks; and assist the other teachers at the monastery in learning English. You may also be asked to help support the monks with their projects and other studies.

Youll be free during weekends to explore the region, or spend more time with the monks at the monastery. Spend your time however you choose.
