Description

Radio plays an important role in the rich culture of Argentina, providing news and analysis, broadcasting theatre programmes and of course, broadcasting the country's beloved tango and other types of music.

This project will allow you to get involved with a recently established community-based radio station in Buenos Aires. The radio station defends the struggle and objectives of various partner social organisations, providing an alternative source of information from the mass media. This exciting opportunity requires a basic knowledge of radio equipment and broadcasting. This placement provides an open space for creativity and diverse opinions and an excellent opportunity to explore or further a career in radio production.

Highlights

You will become an integral part of the radio station's production team, helping the programme coordinators with the production and broadcasting of the daily radio show.

You will be involved in a number of tasks, including:
* Production of the radio show
* Researching and summarizing news stories
* Researching newspapers, magazines and online to gather new information and material for the show
* Welcoming guests on the programme
* Taking calls and helping with general tasks

In your free time you will have the opportunity to explore Buenos Aires, known as the 'Paris of South America' for its exquisite architecture, rich music and arts scene, world-renown cuisine, and an exciting, varied nightlife.

Qualifications

* Min age 18 - Max age 60
* Minimum 3 months commitment - 25+ hours a week
* Enthusiasm and interest to work in Radio Broadcasting and Production
* Advanced Spanish (Lessons available)
* Full travel & medical insurance

Program Fees Include:

Does not include accommodation or food. Accommodation starts at 100 USD a week including 3 meals a week. You should budget around 5-10 USD a day for food.
