The trip is very different, especially because you are living almost as a local and they take you to special places where there are barely any tourists. The food there is absolutely wonderful especially the Nasi Kuning. This trip is a once in a lifetime escape and its something that you should should enjoy every moment of.

I travelled to Valencia, Spain with Global Leadership Adventures this past summer, and I'm so glad I made that decision. GLA's Spain program was everything I expected and more. I grew to know and love thirty amazing kids from a local school in Valencia, and I got to see my change-making potential while teaching them English. We gave the kids a window into our home culture and at the same time got to see Spanish culture through working with them. Overall it was an amazing trip, and I definitely suggest it for first-time travellers and experienced travellers alike. It's a bit on the costly side, but considering all that the trip encompassed (also especially that it's one of GLA's longer programs), it's definitely worth it!!

GLA Thailand: The Elephant Village Initiative review

Choosing to go to Thailand with Global Leadership Adventures was the best decision I have ever made. Everyday was a new adventure; we would do anything from teach at a high school, to bathe elephants in the river. I expanded my knowledge and views on elephant conservation, and made life long friends. I have a new outlook on my life, and I couldn't have done it without GLA!

I never thought such a short trip could change my life so drastically and positively. The two weeks I spent in Costa Rica where the best of my life.
We hiked through biologically diverse parks, we surfed, we went zip lining, and kayaking as well as doing community service. Seeing the impact all our hard work had on the community and the ocean was truly gratifying. This trip allowed me to grow as a person, it made me aware of worldwide issues,it gave me a chance to meet new interesting people and forced me to get out of my comfort zone and I loved every second of it. The mentors were eager to teach us, they were friendly and always knew what to do.
Overall it was an amazing experience, safe, interesting and life changing.
The adventure of a lifetime!

Words cannot describe how amazing my experience was on the GLA Galapagos trip. This trip was my first time traveling abroad without my family and being away from them and my home for 2 weeks. The GLA mentors and other kids on the trip made it feel like I had made another family abroad (we even called ourselves one big family during the trip)! Everyone was so loving, kind, and supportive of one another. The trip well beyond exceeded my expectations. The food, accommodations, and activities were amazing. Some highlights of the trip for me were getting to snorkel with sea lions and sea turtles, getting very close to the tortoises and working alongside them, spending time at a local school on Isabella Island, exploring Old Quito, and going to the Equator. As for the service work, it was extremely fun but also a lot of work. The service I did consisted of removing invasive species from a tortoise captivity, cutting a fence in half, and replanting indigenous plants. This trip provided me with great learning opportunities, a chance to give back to communities, and forever friends! I hope to go on another GLA trip next summer!
