Description

Intern responsibilities vary from department to department, but each intern will be doing substantive work similar to that of their paid staff counterpart.

Political Department: Interns may make calls to state organizers; help out with special events, or research voter election reform legislation.

Communications Department: Interns may help with the collection of daily news clips, draft and format press releases, and monitor television appearances.

Human Resources Department:Gain experience in assisting with the maintenance of personnel files, administering employee benefits, and assist in conducting new hire orientation.

This organization plans the Party's quadrennial presidential nominating convention; promotes the election of Party candidates with both technical and financial support; and works with national, state, and local party organizations, elected officials, candidates, and constituencies.

The internship program included a speaker's series. Once a week, interns come together to hear from important people in the political process including members of Congress, political operatives or former campaign staff members to get a broad perspective of the inner workings of Washington.

Qualifications

* You must be at least 19 years old.
* Placement should be in your field of study and you must have relevant course work/work experience in the field.
* You must be a US citizen.
