    Provide research and writing support for work on agricultural, environmental, and energy topics which may include:
    * Chesapeake Bay nutrient pollution
    * The Dead Zone in the Gulf of Mexico
    * Voluntary and regulatory approaches to agricultural pollution
    * Agricultural biofuels
    * Agricultural climate change emissions and carbon sequestration
    * Cost-effectiveness of farm best management practices

This organization analyzes government data on issues ranging from arsenic-treated wood to nuclear waste transport and much more.     Preference will be given for applicants with any of the following skills:

    a) background in agricultural-environmental science or policy, chemistry, biology, earth sciences and;
    b) experience in GIS mapping, data analysis, spreadsheet analysis, and program evaluation.

    * Agriculture and Natural Resources Internship
    This organization is the federation of state-based environment groups, acts as a strong advocate on a broad range of environmental issues, including promoting energy efficiency, protecting our open spaces, cleaning up our air and water, and to advancing global warming solutions. The organization speaks out and takes action at the local, state, and national levels to protect our precious natural resources.

    * Field Internship: Work with the organization's campaign and advocacy staff to demonstrate support for issues at the state and national level. Over the course of the internship, you will learn the basics of a variety of issues, and then reach out to individuals, media outlets, organizations, and decision-makers to build visibility and gain their support.

    * Legislative Internship: Over the course of the internship you will work with the advocacy staff gaining in-depth knowledge on one or two specific issues. You may help to research and write reports, organize media events, build national coalitions, and lobby governmental or corporate decision-makers in support of specific policy proposals.

    * Media Internship: Over the course of the internship, you will work with the Communications Team to organize press conferences, pitch stories to reporters, respond to breaking news and requests for information and interviews, and assist in writing and placing opinion pieces.

  • Qualifications

    * You must be at least 19 years old.
    * Placement should be in your field of study and you must have relevant course work/work experience in the field.
    * You must be a US, Canadian or Australian citizen or already be in the US on a work/study visa.
    * The best candidates will have experiences researching and analyzing agricultural-environmental policies.
    * Preferred but not required skills include: spreadsheet analysis, basic statistical analysis, GIS mapping, database management, website programming.
