I am Jeffrey Theile, finishing my MBA at Glion Institute of Higher Education. During my undergrad, I duel majored in Economics and Political Science. I decided to attend Glion because of its amazing reputation in its field and because of the international exposure that I would gain from attending this school. From attending this school, I have gained multiple different things. First of all, I obtained my job, as a food and beverage trainee at Amangani, an Aman resort in Wyoming, through the schools placement department. The curriculum of the school has many different aspects. Most importantly to me, is the international exposure gained from the program. The nature of the studies allowed me to gain experience, through a variety of projects, with a large and diverse school body. This is very important to me when entering a career path in which most of the people I will interact with will come from a variety of backgrounds and cultures, which can be daunting without prior experience. In addition, the school encourages a professional atmosphere that I believe is especially essential in the hospitality field. Finally, the Glion’s applied research program, from which my dissertation is conducted through, has given me insight into dealing with a real life problem that a hotel currently faces, and the ability to experience working for an actual hotel.

Glion gave me the opportunity to meet wonderful people and start a successful international career in the hospitality industry.

Being in Glion gives me the chance to work in many fields which made me know what I was made for and was not and what I wanted to do or not.

Glion represents for me the beginning of the brilliant venture into the Hospitality Industry where the teachers efficiently transmitted their expertise to all the students. At Glion I learned the necessary knowledge and values which has been the key for success within the Industry. The familiar environment of the campus made the learning process very enjoyable and in such positive atmosphere I made friends for life time, therefore I can say that studied and lived at Glion is one of the best experiences ever.

Glion is more than just a hotel school. For me, Glion is the place that gave me both education and also a life-time experience. Not to mentioned the academic side, Glion ranks as number 3 best hotel school in the world. A solid in teaching for both theory and practical courses. For my self, my fond memory of Glion would be that I have met many people, some that I will be in contact forever with. I remember that during my first semester, I hung out with all different kinds of nationalities of friends. Korea, Mexican, German, Chinese… People who noticed us, call us “united color group”. This is the benefits that the Glion gave to the students, especially to me - the diversity in culture and nationality that is. Last but not least, I will never forget the view overlooked from Bellevue. It is the story that I would tell my kids.

If I was, before coming to Glion a typical self-centered Parisian, I understood very quickly while being in contact with more than 80 nationalities that the world is not bigger than a village: Everybody needs everyone and to be successful. Hence, we have to be open-minded and to realize the importance of learning from everyone’s unique background. If you get that, you will then feel the importance of understanding each of our client’s proper needs, certainly the basis of our beautiful hospitality world.
