Location
US Virgin Islands: St. John; United States: San Francisco, Washington D.C.
Term
Summer
The participant will do a month-long travel spending ten days in each location: Washington D.C., St. John, United States Virgin Islands, and San Francisco. The participant will meet with professionals to explore his or her career interests, complete service projects, and experience diverse areas of the United States. Adventures include a three-day camping trip to Yosemite National Park, hikes through a tropical forest, city monuments tour, group dinners in each city, and much more!
We will begin the program in the city where a voice can change a law and happy hours are where you meet your best friends. The possibilities in Washington DC are endless. Throughout the ten days in D.C. participants will help children and young adults with disabilities at the three-day Summer Games event hosted by The Special Olympics. The participant will also be able to explore their areas of passion by engaging in externships such as government affairs, consulting, lobbying, real estate, fashion, medical field, and much more. After spending ten days in D.C. we travel by plane to St. John in the United States Virgin Islands. The St. John portion of the program starts with learning about managing resources and recreation and tourism at the eco resort you will be living in for the next ten days. Field service projects will be setup through the eco resort to have a better understanding of their minimal impact on the environment. The island of St. John is three-fifths a National Park and wants to be explored! We have hikes, sailing, and snorkeling with professionals to tell, teach, and involve you in programs to understand the land and water around you. Once you have hiked all of St. John, snorkeled Trunk Bay, and learned about the different impacts on the tropical forest we will make a final voyage to San Francisco. San Francisco is full of entrepreneurs and people finding their passion. You have a chance to job shadow people involved in technology, fashion, non-profits, restaurant business, photography, and other opportunities. The service projects will allow you to make a difference first-hand with helping the homeless. Another service project will be during our 3-day/2-night guided camping adventure to Yosemite National Park. Once there you will explore, hike, and swim in one of the best National Parks in the world.
This trip is for the ones who want to truly do something remarkable that will leave a lasting impression. Our trip is organized so learn from invaluable experiences that you will take with you for the rest of your life. We hope to see you on our next adventure!
