  • Description

GeoVisions' Conversation Corps offers you a unique cultural volunteering experience, giving you the opportunity to live with a Spanish speaking Peruvian family and teach them conversational English. This is a unique way to experience living in your teaching environment as the members of your host family are also your "students". In this adventure, it is up to you to meet the challenge of providing fun and dynamic ways to tutor the family in English after they come from their days at school and work. We provide the materials; you provide the personality to liven up a family class or dinner conversation!

Meanwhile, you get to immerse yourself in Peruvian culture. Thanks to a focus on the exchange of cultures, you will be experiencing the rich history, landscape, and cuisine of Peru while your host family enjoys learning English from you.

Conversation Corps volunteers will receive instruction on how to teach English, with specific activities that can be applied in an intimate home setting. GeoVisions also includes an orientation upon your arrival and transportation to your host family.

    Duties and Responsibilities include:

    * Teaching the host family English up to 15 hours a week Monday to Friday
    * Come up with creative, fun, and informative lesson plans
    * Keep your room tidy and clean
    * Respect host family's rules and habits
    * Manage your own personal expenses (telephone bills, clothing, entertainment and spending money)
    * Helping children with their English homework
    * Play games in English with the children
    * Create and teach educational games and activities

All GeoVisions programs include accommodation. Most include meals, airport pick-up, project training, in-country support, extensive medical and accident insurance, extensive pre-departure information and onsite project orientation.

  • Highlights

    Benefits:
    * GeoVision's text, A Tutor's GuideTravel for less.
    * You put in a couple of hours each day literally talking, and the rest of your time is spent traveling and experiencing the culture in depth.
    * Do you want to learn Spanish or brush up on your language skills? We can easily arrange optional language classes for you. It's up to you.
    * Tip the advantage to you by enhancing your resume by volunteering with the Conversation Corps. Job: "Private Language Tutor." References: Global. It just doesn't get any better than that.
    * You "meet" your family in advance through email and phone calls. Each family is interviewed and carefully screened by in-country staff.
    * Exclusive materials written by GeoVisions staff will give you "a bag of tricks" as you engage your new family.
    * Join our Facebook Fan page or our Facebook Conversation Corps Group and begin the conversation now. And when you come back, our Returnee network is a great place to share your experiences.
