Argentina
Share |

Location
Argentina: Cordoba

Program Duration
5-8 weeks, 9-12 weeks

Typical Duration of Program
3-6 months

Dates
March through December

  • Description

    Volunteer in with this project, and work to change the lives of women throughout Argentina. The move to improve women's lives began in 1975 in honor of a famous Argentine woman who, during the foundational process of the Argentinean state in the 19th century, fought against unfair conditions of women and proposed a free and public education where women could learn the same disciplines and subjects as men. This rewarding program allows you to be a crusader and activist of women's rights, giving you the time and freedom to also explore the culture of Argentina in depth.

    The main focus areas are:
    * Women's rights
    * Women's education & empowerment
    * Prevention and assistance from domestic violence
    * Health

    The project regularly organizes workshops and seminars to promote and raise awareness on gender equality and women's rights. The organization has an office in downtown Cordoba, and also works within the facilities of the public library located in a poor neighborhood of Barrio Talleres Este. In close cooperation with this library, the project offers courses and debates about their objectives.

    Volunteer tasks may include:
    * Organizing and helping with educational and cultural events.
    * Caring and accompanying women victims of abuse and domestic violence.
    * Helping with the promotional activities of the association with ideas for helping to achieve the above-mentioned goals.
    * Maintaining office and library with different tasks.
