Gain experience working as an editorial assistant on your gap year
If you are interested in publishing this gap year internship is a great opportunity for you to gain valuable work experience abroad while supporting the work of an important charity. On this internship abroad you will be working with an award-winning, non-profit organisation which publishes nearly 100 new titles each year and works with some of the world's leading publishing groups.
Based centrally in India's vibrant and cosmopolitan capital, Delhi, the organisation is involved in publishing and producing many of its own titles in children's fiction, adult fiction and academic works. It also runs several community schools for the benefit of poor local children.
Its mission is to spread the joy of reading, believing that stories help to create special friendships and link people, faiths and cultures together. While the focus is on books, publishing and reading, its philosophy has taken it into running a mobile school for Delhi's street children, which gap year interns can also get involved in.
If you have a passion for books, reading and writing and want to experience different cultures and make a difference on your gap year then this is the place to be! Working as an editorial intern abroad, your skills will help this organisation to keep down costs, while you will meet a great bunch of people and create friendships that could last a lifetime.
On this internship in India you will be working on key book production tasks for a variety of publications, (mostly fiction and children's books). Your tasks will include proof reading, creative writing, media write-ups, working with the press and research. Gap year interns work within a friendly, dedicated and experienced team, giving you the opportunity to learn about publishing and contemporary Indian fiction.
This is the perfect gap year internship for anyone thinking of a career in publishing. You'll develop new skills and gain crucial work experience, which will look great on your CV. By taking an internship in India you can show initiative in getting into a career that's notoriously difficult to break into.
Volunteers need no previous experience but should have an interest in publishing and working in the media.
