Volunteer in Sri Lanka and work in under-funded orphanages in and around picturesque Kandy. Orphanages in Sri Lanka have limited resources and staff, so volunteer childcare can play an important role in caring for local children. You do not need any previous experience to work as an orphanage volunteer, just the energy and enthusiasm to make a difference during your stay.

Your volunteer abroad role can be varied and you will have the opportunity to get involved in every aspect of the orphanage's work. Gap year volunteers support local staff in day-to-day cleaning and feeding activities, but they can also assume more creative roles, drawing, coloring, acting and singing with the children. Orphanage volunteering can also involve teaching children basic English or helping them with their homework, as well as entertaining the children with games and outdoor activities.
