* What Will I Be Doing?
The Hospital specialises in treating paediatrics patients from all over the country. Most patients come from low income families, with parents working in the agricultural sector. During their treatment period, the patients do not have access to education or participation in common leisure activities. The hospital also lacks psychological care for its youngest patients. Although 7 recreation rooms have been successfully established, catering for patients of all 22 departments, these are still lacking facilities and toys for the patients.
Despite efforts from the doctors and nurses in the hospital, they are failing to cater for all the patients' needs; this is why the hospital needs volunteers. The objectives of this project will be to ensure fundamental rights to physical and spiritual growth for paediatrics patients, like communication, knowledge, amusement, creative games, and physical exercises.
You will organise games and leisure activities for children who have to spend a long, difficult time in the hospital for their treatment. You will organise different activities such as drawing, singing, origami, playing games and performing plays. You should be enthusiastic, optimistic, patient, full of energy and ready to work with children. Most of all, you should be aware that this project is demanding and you should feel able to face children who are very sick.
