Come to mountain gorillas, Lake Victoria and the source of the Nile, Uganda is often called the "Pearl of Africa". It is a land where you can experience a truly welcoming culture and natural beauty without equal. Whether you're exploring Uganda's equatorial mountain forests, its island-dotted lakes, or its colourful, vibrant cities, you're sure to have an unforgettable experience. Working in a Christian mission in the heart of the community you can help put a smile on the faces of the children of Uganda by teaching and helping with community work.
* What Does the Project Do?
Of all the victims of Uganda's nearly twenty year civil strife, the saddest and most vulnerable are the many orphans who were left homeless, suffering from malnutrition and exposed to disease. In a cruel twist, AIDS has more than doubled the number of Uganda's orphans and brought unspeakable anguish to everyone it has afflicted.
Today, there are about 1.6 million orphans in Uganda, a staggering 18% of the nine million children under 18 years of age, and these numbers are likely to grow to about 2 million by next year.
You'll work for one of Uganda's leading Christian missionaries, helping bring joy into the lives of orphans and teaching them valuable skills. You'll also be a part of the essential community work that is taking place around Kampala, improving the lives for orphans and other vulnerable communities.
* Visit the "Pearl of Africa"!

To conserve the world's most endangered wildlife and threatened habitats and to build sustainable livelihoods for marginalized and under resourced communities in the world's poorest countries. To create solutions that are apolitical, forward-thinking, community-driven, and innovative and which take into consideration the long-term needs of low income communities.
