  • Description

For all her natural beauty and wonder, Tanzania remains one of the poorest countries in the world. In both cities and remote rural communities access to basic education and healthcare is limited and the dependence on subsistence lifestyles is widespread. Volunteering in Tanzania could be your chance to immerse yourself in her warm and welcoming communities while making a lasting contribution to the education and community development projects that will improve the standard of living and future prospects for those in greatest need.

    * What Will I Be Doing?

As a volunteer you will be able to get involved with every step of the planning, preparation and implementation of these HIV awareness seminars. Through this medium you will be providing information and advice on HIV and AIDS as well as listening to and answering questions from the participants. Volunteers are expected to use their initiative to ensure that these seminars have the most impact, and to help with the overall development of the programme. However, if you need assistance in initiating any activities, the local staff will be more than happy to advise and assist you.

It is important that you have an understanding of the causes, transmission, effects and treatments for HIV and AIDS and are comfortable discussing this in an open and honest environment. You will be provided with a training pack to ensure that you are prepared to conduct the seminars.

You will be welcomed at every turn by smiling and enthusiastic people and whatever activities you are involved in, you are sure to gain huge satisfaction from working with the community and raising awareness of such an important issue whilst significantly enhancing your own skills and experience.
