Discover Sri Lanka, a glittering jewel of an island nestled in the aquiline waters of the Indian Ocean. Help in the conservation and protection of some of the most fascinating and ecologically significant ecosystems - mangroves. These complex and mysterious habitats are formed from a variety of species of trees and shrubs that grow in saline coastal habitats, and provide a home for a myriad of flora and fauna. This is an incredible chance to combine experiencing one of the most enchanting parts of the world, with joining a conservation programme that is making a sincere and practical contribution to protect the mangroves of Sri Lanka, and therefore help in addressing the issues that are currently facing these precious ecosystems.
* What Will I Be Doing?
You will be working in the extensive greenhouses that form the mangrove nurseries, attached to the project site. You will be fully involved with hands on work, helping grow the vital seedlings that will regenerate the mangrove ecosystems, and then working to transport and plant them in the salty Sri Lankan lagoons. To complement this work, you could be participating in community education programmes to raise awareness about the importance of these natural habitats and to therefore promote sustainable conservation.
* Help in the conservation of some of the most ecologically significant ecosystems.
* Explore lush & mysterious Sri Lanka.
* Make lifelong friends.

Independently
To conserve the world's most endangered wildlife and threatened habitats and to build sustainable livelihoods for marginalized and under resourced communities in the world's poorest countries. To create solutions that are apolitical, forward-thinking, community-driven, and innovative and which take into consideration the long-term needs of low income communities.
