Senegal French School
Description
French is the official language spoken in over 29 countries across the world including Canada, parts of Africa and across Europe. Enjoy learning one of the world's most useful languages whilst integrating yourself into the daily rhythm of Senegal. Throughout this project you will experience the true culture and community life of this enchanting country.
Despite its diminutive size, Senegal has its own unique culture expressed by a blend of exotic music, tempting cuisine and unusual traditions and customs, making it a veritable melting pot of cultural discovery. Visit pristine ivory coastline laced with the dramatic expanse of the Atlantic Ocean, where you will find beaches scattered with rose-tinged shells, palm trees flourishing in the sandy terrain and offshore coral reefs and cays replete with a thousand species of tiny fish and other exotic creatures.
Enjoy humid nights in the thriving port of Dakar, where you will find a melting pot of influences ranging from French to Arabic, expressed in a multitude of cafes, bars and restaurants as well as galleries and museums. The perfect place to improve your French!
WHAT DOES THE PROJECT DO?
Whether you want to improve your career prospects, make travel easier, or simply want access to the countless masterpieces that have been written in French, then Frontier's French language immersion programme could be just what you are looking for! Being required to use the language on a daily basis will really help to engrain the grammar and vocabulary into your mind and allow you to come away speaking far more like a local than you would with formal lessons back at home.
WHAT WILL I BE DOING?
Taught by an experienced tutor you will get an excellent introduction to this elegant language, picking up on colloquialisms whilst mastering your pronunciation. In class the focus will be on your pronunciation and fluency as well as building upon your vocab, ensuring that you grasp the fundamentals before moving on to more complex subjects as your confidence grows. Over the course of the week, you will receive 15 hours of one-to-one language tuition and will be evaluated on a regular basis to check your progress. When you return home you will be able to put what you have learnt immediately into practice with your homestay family as you talk about your experiences and plans. Fully immersing yourself into a new country and culture in this way is by far the most effective way to learn a language!
