  • Description

Help disadvantaged and marginalised children by bringing them hope through teaching in Senegal, a multifaceted and vibrant country famous for its art heritage and a rich tapestry of interwoven musical roots. Despite its diminutive size, Senegal has its own unique amalgamation of exotic music, tempting cuisine and unusual customs, making it a veritable melting pot of cultural discovery. Visit pristine ivory coastline laced with the dramatic expanse of the Atlantic Ocean, where you will find beaches scattered with rose-tinged shells, palm trees flourishing on the sandy shores and coral reefs and cays replete with a myriad of species of tiny fish and other tropical creatures unique to these waters.

Enjoy dark humid nights in the thriving port of Dakar, where you will find a melting pot of influences ranging from French to Arabic, expressed in a multitude of cafes, bars and restaurants as well as galleries and museums. Make a valued and long term contribution to the future of the children you encounter and befriend in a community that lacks most of the basic educational resources.

Once the teaching assignment is complete, why not try some of the country's exhilarating extra activities including the chance to surf down towering dunes of ever shifting ivory sand, swim above labyrinthine reef-scapes where many dazzling fish shelter beneath the cerulean reef waters, or trek in the vicinity of the otherworldly Pink Lake, which really is a deep roseate colour across its entire surface. Try Senegal for a gap year or year out destination that has so much to offer!

    * What Will I Be Doing?
