The landscape of Nepal is the most spectacular in the world. The world's highest mountain ranges plunge into lush valleys teeming with exotic wildlife and throughout, remote monasteries and villages adorn the landscape. Here, you'll find over 800 species of birds, bears, monkeys, and even royal Bengal Tigers. The human population is no less fascinating and comprises a mix of Hindu and Buddhist cultures, where ancient traditions and nomadic lifestyles bring colour to modern life. This is not surprising, as this region is home to both the Lord Buddha and the Dalai Lama.
* What Will I Be Doing?
The music school conducts traditional and modern music, dance, performing art and vocal classes and workshops every day except Saturdays and public holidays. As well as modern musical instruments you will be learning how to play the traditional instruments of different tribes and castes of Nepal such as maadal, saarangi, damphu and binayo. You can also learn some of the many traditional and cultural dances of Nepalese tribes and castes that have been handed down through generations, such as the Bajrayogini Dance which is one of the ancient classical dances of Nepal and named after the goddess, Bajrayogini.
You will be taught the meaning and history of the dances and be given expert demonstrations by your tutor. When you have seen how the dances are performed, you will have the chance to practise them with the tutor and the other students.
From 7am to 10am you will participate in dance workshops with musical instrument tuition between 3pm and 6pm. You will have lunch times and evenings free to explore the exciting and vibrant city of Kathmandu.
